Zhu Changchun, Secretary-General of China Polyurethane Industry Association, said: “In 2012, affected by the global financial turmoil, the chemical industry experienced severe tests, economic growth slowed down significantly, and economic benefits declined significantly. However, the polyurethane industry still maintained good growth. Speed, showing a steady growth trend."

According to statistics from the Association’s secretariat, except for some raw material products that have shown weak price growth due to the rapid expansion of production capacity, the growth rate of most products has exceeded 10%. National polyurethane production and sales reached 7.8 million tons in 2012, of which polyurethane foam production and sales were 3.2 million tons, spandex 350,000 tons, polyurethane synthetic leather slurry and sole stock solution 1.95 million tons, polyurethane coatings 1.3 million tons, polyurethane adhesives and seals 400,000 tons of agents and 600,000 tons of polyurethane elastomers, an increase of 11.5% over 2011, of which the growth rate of polyurethane elastomers exceeded 20%. By the end of 2012, polyurethane production and sales accounted for more than 40% of global production, ranking first in the world.
